Artist
Andy Warhol
American Pop artist (1928–1987)
Andy Warhol turned the supermarket shelf and the movie still into the subject matter of serious art. Working from the Factory in New York, he made the screenprint his signature medium — repetition, flat colour and mechanical reproduction used to say something about fame, consumption and the image itself.
The Marilyn Monroe portfolio, taken from a 1953 publicity photograph, remains the most recognised group of prints in post-war art. Campbell's Soup returned the everyday object to the gallery wall, and the 1975 Mick Jagger suite combined photography, torn paper collage and hand-drawn line.
Warhol prints are sourced through our network. Editions, condition and provenance are confirmed before any placement; price on application.
