Urban contemporary
Original street art for sale.
Street art moved from the wall to the canvas in downtown New York in the early 1980s, and the market has been catching up ever since. Our creative director, Daniel James Mardell, worked around the studios of Richard Hambleton, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and Banksy — which shapes both what we look for and how carefully we check it.
We handle original paintings and works on paper rather than open editions. Where a work carries a studio or estate association, we say so plainly and support it with documentation; where it does not, we say that too.
What we check
- Authenticity and, where it exists, estate or studio documentation
- Provenance from first ownership onwards
- Condition — street-derived materials age unpredictably
- Comparable sales, public and private

FAQs
Collecting street art
What buyers ask before acquiring their first urban or post-graffiti work.
- How do I know a street art work is authentic?
- Every work we sell carries documented provenance and, where the artist or estate issues them, a certificate of authenticity. For secondary market pieces we commission independent authentication before offering the work.
- What does original street art sell for?
- Signed prints and small works on paper typically start in the low thousands, while significant canvases by established names such as Hambleton, Haring or Banksy run well into six figures.
- Is street art a good investment?
- The best examples have performed strongly, but the market rewards quality and documentation rather than a name alone. Condition, period and provenance drive value far more than subject matter.
- Can spray paint and aerosol works be conserved?
- Yes. Aerosol on canvas is stable when framed correctly, kept out of direct sunlight and held at steady humidity. We advise on framing and conservation for every work we place.
- Do you source specific artists on request?
- Regularly. Much of what we place never appears publicly, so tell us the artist, period or scale you want and we will search estates, private collections and dealer stock.
