Investment grade art

Sourced quietly, held well.

Our advisers acquire museum-quality work on behalf of private collections, family offices and foundations.

An art adviser considering framed works in a private viewing room

An investment grade work is one that would still be wanted in a difficult market. Very little qualifies. We spend most of our time saying no.

How we work

Five stages.

  1. 01

    Brief

An hour with an adviser to establish taste, budget, horizon and the role art plays alongside your other holdings.

  2. 02

    Search

We work the private market first — estates, family collections, dealer stock — before considering auction. Most of what we source is never publicly offered.

  3. 03

    Diligence

Condition, authenticity, restitution checks, comparable sales and a written valuation from an independent specialist.

  4. 04

    Acquisition

Negotiation, contracts, export licences, shipping and installation. You see one invoice and one fee.

  5. 05

    Stewardship

Annual valuations, conservation scheduling, insurance liaison and a considered exit when the time is right.
