Andre Salas

Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Andre Salas found his voice outside the art school system — entirely self-taught, guided by instinct rather than instruction.

A move to Miami proved decisive. Immersed in the city's restless contemporary scene, he sharpened a visual language that borrows freely from everyday life: food, animals, symbols and blunt written statements, recombined until they read as something stranger than their parts.

He works spontaneously, beginning with a visualised concept and resolving it in whatever medium suits — canvas, apparel or decor. House paint, acrylic, oil stick, paper collage and pencil form the core of his practice, though he continues to test new materials and techniques.

Now based in Miami, Salas makes work intended to start conversations rather than settle them. New releases are offered first to registered collectors — enquire to be added to the list.
